The big motivator for starting the HCG diet was seeing myself in pictures. I knew I had gained a bunch of weight but seeing it in pictures made it seem more obvious.  I couldn’t stand it any longer, I had to do something. I hurt all the time and was so sluggish and tired. I just felt gross. I am approaching my 40th birthday day and was way too young to feel that old!!! We researched the HCG diet a lot on the internet and my husband found Dr. Bird.

I was very nervous about giving myself the shots but it wasn’t as bad as I had thought. I was so surprised that I wasn’t that hungry. I still had cravings but I just repeated Dr. Bird’s mantra over and over, which is, “Be Intentional” I love that. It really worked for me. Another motivating thing for me was THE SCALE! Seeing those numbers plummet was awesome! I’ve never liked my scale so much. I did screw up a few times with lotion and sunscreen so when you read about them and the warnings, heed them to the nth degree. I put the wrong sunscreen on one time and I stalled for 3 days. That was frustrating! Eating the food wasn’t so bad but you really have to stick to it and it is hard especially if you go to a party or social function and you bring your own food. But it’s totally worth it. Just think about the sacrifice your making and is that ‘cheat’ really worth it? I did the 40-day plan and wanted to lose 25 lbs. I reached that goal a week early! We were at my brother-in-law's house and my husband brought me a 25lb weight from their weight bench and asked me to hold it just to put my loss in perspective. That was eye-opening. I lost a total of 28 lbs and 24.5” all over my body- I love having a ‘little middle’. Several people have told me that I’ve inspired them to take control again and praised me for my dedication to lose the weight – how can that not make you feel good. A lot of the credit goes to my wonderfully supportive husband who shops, chops and cooks for me. I couldn’t have done it without him.
   
I have started the maintenance portion and was even more nervous about that but it also is turning out to not be that bad. I’ve lost another pound hoping to make it to a nice even 30 but I’m not complaining. Next week I start adding back to those dreaded carbs and sugars. I’m just going to take it one day at a time and "be intentional".

I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember.  I go to the gym, try to eat healthy, and try to do all the right things to lose weight, but after so much dieting I'd just become so frustrated and tired with all of it.  I tried the cookie diet, low carb, no carb, lemonade, anything you can think of and nothing was working.  When I decided I was moving to South Korea I knew I had to do something fast and weight loss surgery was not going to be an option for me.   I heard about HCG from a friend of mine and started googling clinics in Phoenix.  Luckily, one of the first sites I ran across was Dr. Bird's.  I emailed him and I was so surprised by how quickly he got back to me and how he has continued to be a huge support when it comes to all my questions and concerns.  I was in the office within the week. When I first heard of HCG I was convinced it was two things - #1 too good to be true and #2 out of this world expensive.  When I met a woman who had, like myself, struggled with weight for most of her adult life, tell me that she not only thought HCG was a "miracle", but that the Doctor and clinic she found to administer and oversee her weight loss were the miracle workers - I had to see for myself.  She said she had lost almost 8 lbs. in the first week!
